Licorice root oil

This therapeutic Licorice carrier oil is extracted by solar-infusing the macerated stolons (underground stems, often presumed to be rhizomes) of Glycyrrhiza glabra grown in India into pure organic Helianthus annuus (Sunflower) seed oil at low heat.

The anti-inflammatory properties of licorice oil are due to the effect of its triterpenoids when they contact receptors in the skin, which cause the release of natural steroids. This makes licorice oil very useful as an alternative to over-using topical steroid creams. It is also widely used to both prevent and diminish dark spots, and to relieve oily skin.

Because it is so effective for skin care, and the scent is relatively mild, licorice oil makes a fine carrier for essential oils for all types of topical use.
