Babassu essential oil organic

Our organic Babassu oil is cold-pressed from the seeds of the Orbignya oleifera palm in Brazil. The seeds are sustainably harvested by a local co-op in the Amazon.

Babassu oil is much lighter in texture than coconut oil but is similar in that it can turn into a solid at room temperatures. Before using it you can gently warm it by putting in a warm place, like a pocket, for a few minutes before you try to get it out of the bottle. 

There is almost no scent, so this oil is a very versatile carrier for blending. Light and sheer, it absorbs easily and is ideal for nourishing and conditioning hair that is dry or frizzy, and for scalp and skin applications. Highly emollient, Babassu is high in fatty acids like Lauric Acid and Myristic Acid, so is very cooling and soothing to skin. It also is protective against free radical and UV damage because of its high levels of tocopherols.
