One of the three varities of Sandalwood that we carry, Santalum paniculatum or Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood is the most expensive. Its scent is warm and rich, a little less spicy than New Caledonia and a little less sweet than Australian - it is a perfect in-between, and has the signature woody quality of classic Indian Sandalwood.
Used by Hawaiian royalty as a sacred ceremonial plant, this oil is precious in perfume blends, aromatherapy, and cosmetics.

ABOUT SANDALWOOD:
The species of Sandalwood which has been the most common is the Indian Sandalwood. Unfortunately it has been over-harvested almost to extinction, and the essential oil that is now being sold is not the high quality of decades past. Fortunately, there are some wonderful species of Sandalwood which grow in other parts of the world which are being sustainably harvested and are of exceptional quality. We carry 3 of those; Australian, New Caledonia, and Royal Hawaiian. Each has the genuine Sandalwood scent but with its own unique character.
All of our sandalwood oils are organically slow-distilled for maximum sweetness, compared to cheaper rapid distillation which results in the characteristic woody scent but without as much of the deeper sweet compounds. Because of this superior distillation protocol, please be aware that this sandalwood oil will be thicker and sweeter than most sandalwood oils that are commonly sold.
