Pure undiluted essential oil of Melissa, Lemon Balm, Melissa officinalis, from leaves and flowers grown in Bulgaria.
The scent is very intense, bright citrus, with a sweet herbaceous note; a warming, uplifting aromatherapy oil which dissipates anger and depression, promotes harmony and restful sleep.
Real Melissa is one of the more expensive essential oils, because lemon balm has a relatively low oil content, and a great deal of fresh material is required to make a small amount of oil. For this reason, it is often sold diluted or blended with cheaper oils that carry similar scents.
Considered to be highly medicinal, Melissa is used to fight bacteria, fungus, and viruses, so is prized for winter wellness applications, and for treating cold sores and other viral skin outbreaks. It also eases pain and inflammation, and soothes irritated skin.
